Ways and Steps to Check EPF Balance Online
The process of checking your EPF Balance Online has now become easy. Now you can know the status of your Provident Fund through online by logging in to your EPF account. It will take less than 5 minutes and you will get to know your PF through SMS, by a missed call. All you need to do is either install the EPFO app or simply visit the EPFO portal.
Having an EPFO application or visiting portal enables you to keep yourself updated with the balance you have in your PF account. Basically, you can know the status of your PF account in following ways:
1. Using EPFO Portal
Earlier, employees had to visit the regional office of EPM to know their PF balance, but now you can do so with just a few clicks. Below are the steps to check PF balance online that you need to follow. These steps make the whole process hassle-free. Read out the steps!
- Go to the EPFO official website, and click on “Our Services” tab.
- Choose “For Employees” option in the drop-down menu.
- Click on “Member Passbook” option from the list under “Services”.
- A login page will appear on your screen. Enter your required details (i.e your UAN number and password, and Captcha). Then, click on “Login” button.
Note: If it is activated, then you will be logged in and can access your EPF account.
2. By Sending an SMS
You can also check your EPF account balance by sending an SMS to the given number. But, you need to make sure that you know your UAN number which is linked to your KYC details. KYC details include your Bank Account, PAN, or Aadhaar Card.
If you are not able to do this, seek help from your employer and ask them to link your UAN with your KYC details.
Once it is done, you simply need to send an SMS to EPF balance enquiry number following the steps are given below:
Step 1: Type EPFOHO UAN ENG. ENG is the first three characters of the language in which you want to get the reply from them. ENG here is for English. If you want the details in Punjabi, you need to type PUN in place of ENG. This facility of preferred language is for English, Hindi, Punjabi, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, and Malayalam.

3. By simply giving a Missed Call
You can also give a missed call to the number given below to know the account balance of your PF. But, in this also, you need to have your UAN integrated with your details like your PAN, Aadhaar Card, or Bank Account. Similar to above, if you are not able to do this, ask your employer to link your KYC details and your UAN.
Once it is done, you will be able to receive the receipt of your EPF Account Balance. Steps to follow to check EPF balance on mobile includes:
Step 1: Dial 011-22901406, and give a missed call to this number from your registered mobile number.
Step 2: Once you have given missed a call, you will get to know your EPF details through an SMS on your mobile phone.
4. Through EPFO Balance App
To check your Employee Provident Fund balance, you must know that you have your UAN, and your employer has activated it already.
You can install the EPF mobile application “m-sewa app of EPFO” on your Android phones.
After installing the application, you need to follow the below-mentioned steps:
Step 1: Install the app, and click on “Member” followed by “Balance/passbook”.
Step 2: Then, enter your Universal Account Number and your registered mobile number to make system verify the mobile number against your UAN. If these numbers matches, you will be able to view your complete EPF details including the PF amount available in your PF account. But, if these two numbers would not match, it will throw an error.
