Every year, almost at this time of the month (or around), a giant tech wave sweeps across the world whose effects are felt and talked for many months by the people. It’s generally because this is when one of the most popular brands in the world, Apple hosts its annual event which includes many new releases including its flagship product the iPhone. It’s also the time when people from all around the world gather around the various Apple stores to get their hands on the new Apple gadget and smartphones. This year is no different since Apple has already officially launched its newest smartphones named the Apple iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and the 10th-anniversary special edition smartphone the iPhone X.
The event held at the Steve Jobs Theater at the Apple Campus on 12th September marked the 10th-anniversary of the iPhone and although the main focus of the event was the iPhone X, the Apple iPhone 8 and 8 Plus were also major announcements. The Apple iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are the successors to the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, featuring many new innovations and upgrades over the previous models. While the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus follow the same design as the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, they sport a full metal and glass body and come in only 64GB and 256GB variants.
Apple iPhone 8, 8 Plus features and specifications
The new Apple iPhone 8 and 8 Plus offer noticeable improvements over their predecessors the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus models. Both the phones come with a glass back, which Apple claims to be the most durable glass ever used in a smartphone. However, the type of the glass used in the phones is not revealed yet. Like the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, both the models lack the headphone jack and are waterproof. Apple has included stereo speakers in both the devices, which are present in the top and bottom of the phone. The company claims that these speakers provide deeper bass and they are also 20% louder than the older iPhones.
The iPhone 8 sports a 4.7 inch LCD screen with 750×1334 pixels and the iPhone 8 Plus sports a 5.5 inch Full HD LCD screen with bezels around its sides with a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels. Both the phones come with a glass display and are available in Silver, Gold Finish, and Space Gray colors.
The Apple iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are powered by the new A11 Bionic SoC six-core processor and improved GPU, which is expected to be more than 30% more efficient than the predecessors of both the phones. Apple has also said that the new processors (SoC & GPU) will help the users perform complex tasks, like video encoding and others at faster rates than ever. The iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone 8 sport 3GB & 2GB RAM simultaneously, which ensures that the users never run out of space while running the application.
The new iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus come with improved cameras that are expected to bring better details, texture to the pictures clicked on the device. Like their predecessors, the Apple iPhone 8 comes with a 12-megapixel camera and the iPhone 8 Plus comes with a dual 12-megapixel camera setup. Both the phone cameras support Auto Focus, HDR, Face Detection, Geo-tagging, Digital Zoom, Touch Focus, and even 4K recording. The Dual set-up of the iPhone 8 Plus provides in-depth focus and also has an improved portrait mode that lets the users take stunning pictures. Both the phones come with a 7-megapixel shooter in the front for Facetime calls and selfies.
Apart from these aforementioned features, both the phones now come with the support of wireless charging capacities that has been long missing from the Apple devices. The phones support Qi wireless inductive charging, which means that you can charge your iPhone without plugging in the cable. Both the phones support fast charging and Apple claims that they can be charged to 50% within 30 minutes just like its predecessors the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
Apple iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus price in India and release date
iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are already open for pre-booking from September 15th, which means that you can order your iPhone right now. However, the phones will be available in the official Apple stores and resellers from September 22 in the UK, US, and Australia. Countries like Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, and Kuwait also have started taking pre-orders and the phones launch on September 23rd in UAE and on September 29th in the other countries. Indians, on the other hand, can start the pre-orders from September 22nd and the official release of the Apple iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus will be on September 29th like in many other countries.
The iPhone 8 is priced at Rs. 64,000 for the 64GB variant, while the 256GB variant is priced at Rs. 77,000. Similarly, the bigger iPhone 8 Plus is priced at Rs. 73,000 for the 64GB variant and Rs. 86,000 for the 256GB variant in India.
